TULIPS

Pushing
Prodding
Probing

Curving
Carving out their impermanent beauty
Into the humoring atmosphere

Wending, winding
Sliding satiny surfaces onto unsuspecting partners
Nudging, coaxing, squeaking into place

Settling into silky poses
Holding cheek to cheek, as they dance
Into the enlarging space

Opening
Exposing
Kaleidoscopic

Shiny petals which drop
One by one
Form tiny boats—still upon the reflective surface

A flotilla waiting
For their dried, closed up sisters to finally release
Their thirsty tongues

CROCUS
PURPLE
